dc.description.abstract Acute kidney injury (AKI) is described as a spectrum of abruptly compromised renal functions that result in impaired balance of fluid, electrolytes, and waste products. It is recognized as an increasingly common cause of morbidity, mortality and long-term renal sequelae in children. Studies report that survivors of pediatric AKI are at risk for chronic kidney disease (CKD) including hypertension and end stage renal disease (ESRD). en_US
