Mini-invasive techniques in treatment of dental fluorosis

Abstract

Background. Fluorosis in the Republic of Moldova is a great medical and social problem. Our country has several endemic areas. The population is not informed about this disease, methods of prevention, treatment, suffering from dysfunctional, aesthetical problems and problems of social adaptation. Objective of the study. To research and apply in practice mini-invasive methods of fluorosis treatment. Material and Methods. Minimally invasive methods of treating dental fluorosis have been studied, were applied in clinical practice to patients. The study involved 10 patients aged 18-35 years. A questionnaire was completed, to which the patients answered at the beginning and after the intervention. The following materials were used: OpalDam, Opalustre, Opalescence Boost, UltraEZ. Results. According to this study, it was found that modern methods of treating dental fluorosis are effective, being at the same time mini-invasive, in case of patients with hatched, spotted, granular-chalky shapes. In patients with whitish spots, hashes on the enamel, lightly colored spots, the Opalescence Boost tooth whitening system is quite used. Patients with brown and yellow spots are treated with the combined materials, which consists of micro-abrasion with Opalustre and the Opalescence Boost teeth whitening system. From the patients' answers we confirmed that the treatment helps them to adapt into society. Conclusion. Patients in endemic areas do not have information about the methods of prevention and treatment of dental fluorosis. Minimally invasive methods of treating dental fluorosis are effective remedies in combating this pathology and the problems of social adaptation of patients.

Introducere. În Republica Moldova, fluoroza reprezintă o problemă medico-socială majoră. Avem mai multe zone endemice. Populația nu este informată referitor la această maladie, la metodele de prevenire și de tratament, suferind de probleme disfuncţionale, estetice și de adaptare socială. Scopul lucrării. De a cerceta și de a aplica în practică metodele minim invazive de tratament al fluorozei dentare. Material și Metode. S-au studiat metodele minim invazive de tratament al fluorozei dentare, care s-au aplicat în practică la pacienți. În studiu au participat 10 pacienți cu vârsta cuprinsă între 18-35 de ani. A fost efectuat un chestionar, la întrebările căruia pacienții au răspuns înainte și după intervenție. Au fost utilizate următoarele materiale: OpalDam, Opalustre, Opalescence Boost, UltraEZ. Rezultate. S-a constatat că, metodele moderne de tratament al fluorozei dentare sunt eficiente, fiind în același timp minim invazive, în cazul pacienților cu forme haşurate, maculoase, granular-cretoase. La pacienții cu macule albicioase, hașuri pe smalț, macule slab colorate este eficient de aplicat sistemul de albire dentară Opalescence Boost. Pacienților cu macule brune și galbene li se recomandă de efectuat tratamentul combinat, ce presupune microabraziune cu Opalustre și sistemul de albire dentară Opalescence Boost. Concluzii. Tratamentul favorizează la o adaptare benefică în societate. Pacienții din zonele endemice nu dispun de informații suficiente despre metodele de prevenție și de tratament al fluorozei dentare. Metodele minim invazive de tratament sunt eficiente în combaterea acestei patologii.
