Abstract:
Introduction: Oral and maxillofacial
injuries, despite their nature, are of
substantial interest, because their
connection with scar tissue formation,
facial deformities, influence on body
image and posttraumatic stress disorder.
Purpose: the goal of this study is to
determine the presence or the absence of
a connection between the socioeconomic
status of the patient and oral
and maxillofacial injuries.
Material and methods: The study included 50 patients with various
oral pathologies, who were treated in the Department of Dental Surgery
at the Dental Municipal Center in Chișinău, throughout the year of 2020.
Current literature was collected and reviewed using Google scholar and
PubMed.
Results: In this study, we noticed that the more children a patient
had, the worse would be the state of their oral health. As we can see in
the infographic below. Although, in order to make such a reference for
a future study would be correct to take into consideration the age of
the patients and other social indicators.
Conclusions: The study has
demonstrated a slight
connection in between the
socio-economic status of the
patients and their oral health.
But in order to obtain a
clearer understanding of this
relationship, more studies on
the topic are required.
