Descifrând societatea prin criza COVID-19

Abstract

Any crisis carries in its pocket one or, even, several opportunities. This rule is also obeyed by our contemporary crisis: COVID-19 pandemic. Before assessing opportunities, we may point out that the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic has had a severe negative impact on the economic, social, and psychological well-being of most of people. This is a fact. However, this lecture will address one of the opportunities: decipher of our society mentality and rational level of its members. And do not forget: we face the beginning of the third millennium. Science and technology reached an amazing development. What about human being reasoning and thinking? My lecture addresses these issues in a worried manner. Currently, a large amount of misinformation is spreading worldwide by the internet. The subject areas are similarly largely various, each one interesting a more or less number of people. COVID-19 pandemic offered the opportunity to spread misinformation for a single subject and interesting for the largest number of people. From suggestions, scientifically unproven, to treat the viral infection, to arguing that COVID-19 pandemic is a hoax, misinformation flourished on the internet, inducing high risks for public health. These all proved a huge amount of stupidity does exists in our society at the beginning of third millennium, despite the large amount of pathways for education and formation, to increase people cleverness, leading them to think with their own minds. COVID-19 crisis proved to be a tool for deciphering the cleverness of our society at the start of third millennium. Conclusions are not favorable to human species. But do not worry too much, I may urge the audience: “Hope springs eternal in the human breast”. Alexander Pope is right.
