Abstract:
Avoidable mortality is a problem of public health worldwide and, in particular, at national level. The scientific evaluation of avoidable deaths, their
frequency and causes as well as highlighting vulnerable population groups
will raise awareness of the diseases that cause these deaths and their major
impact. The share of avoidable deaths in the Republic of Moldova in 2007-
2017 accounts for almost half (49.1%) of the total deaths. In 2017 compared
to 2007, the number of avoidable deaths decreased by 7 percent. Variations
in avoidable deaths recorded in a regional profile demonstrate the existence
of a regional specificity, which motivates specific health interventions in these
vulnerable areas.
