Abstract:
Communication is a primordial process in establishing harmonious human relationships and gains a special connotation in establishing the professional relationship and, particularly, the doctor-patient one. Communication
in medicine, which is substantially determined by this relationship, becomes a
complex process. This type of communication involves, in addition to effective
professional and communication skills, abilities to influence behavior change.
Thereby, these skills interfere, becoming vital in achieving the desired outcome of the act of healing - the healing of the suffering. Thus, the attempt of
human communication to influence behaviors becomes the primary purpose,
and guides the practical approach of relationship as a distinctive element of
humanity. Therefore, its investigation generates vital principles and values to
improve life and maintain the well-being of those involved in the process.
