Abstract:
Antimicrobial resistance is the ability of a microorganism to withstand
the action of an antimicrobial agent. Antimicrobial resistance is one of the
pressing global public health problems today. Resistant microorganisms are
responsible for serious infections, which can lead even to death. Inappropriate
use of antibiotics is one of the main causes of antimicrobial resistance development. In order to fight the antimicrobialresistance, a WHO program was
developed and the Central Asian and Eastern European Surveillance of Antimicrobial Resistance (CAESAR) network was created. Republic of Moldova
also joined CAESAR and participates to ARM surveillance.
