Abstract:
Today, older adults are living longer than ever before, and growing in
number. Over the past 80 years, the number of old people in Republic of Moldova has grown from 146 000 in 1930 to 499 900 in 2010. By the year 2030,
the older adult population will represent 20 % of the total Republic of Moldova population. With these increases in life expectancy come decreases in
mortality from heart disease and cancer, the leading causes of death among
elders. However, there continues to be room for improvements.
