Abstract:
Neonatal pathology is a separate specialty dedicated to newborns, being
mainly related to the adaptation of newborns to extrauterine life. The specificity of these pathologies, but also the age group affected falls under the
field of bioethics, which proposes mechanisms to address the moral dilemmas
associated with the new technologies, such as testing prenatal, neonatal and
postnatal genetics, moral status of newborns, medical futility, palliative care,
access to the new technologies of treatment and rehabilitation.
