Abstract:
Pulmonary infections will remain the major prognostic problem in cystic fibrosis. COVID-19 is a
highly dangerous pathogen for CF. Studies in Europe reported a 0,3% incidence of COVID-19 in CF.
The pathogenesis of SARS-CoV-2 is directly intertwined and overlaps with that of CF. CF patients
infected with COVID-19 would be at high risk of disease, with a more pronounced proinflammatory
response and lung damage. There are no specific protocols for the management of CF patients with
COVID-19. Vaccination against COVID-19 is encouraged. Scientific results show a relatively good
recovery from COVID-19 in CF patients, the disease has similar manifestations to the general
population.
