Abstract:
Respecting the rights of people with mental disorders is one of
the most sensitive challenges facing contemporary health systems.
Throughout history, these people have often been marginalized, stigmatized
and subjected to intrusive or degrading medical practices, under
the guise of „treatment” or „social protection”. Although advances in the
field of mental health and human rights have led to significant reforms,
the risk of harming the freedom, autonomy or dignity of these patients
persists, especially in situations where coercive measures are used.
