Introducere. Diabetul zaharat tip 2 (DZT2), bolile cardiovasculare, sindromul metabolic, boală cronică de rinichi, hiperlipidemia, hipertensiunea arterială (HTA), boala ficatului steatozic asociată dereglărilor metabolice (MASLD), anumite tipuri de cancer sunt cele mai frecvente afecţiuni asociate cu obezitatea. Scop.
Introduction. Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM), cardiovascular diseases, metabolic syndrome, chronic kidney disease, hyperlipidemia, arterial hypertension (AH), metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD), certain types of cancer are the most common conditions associated with obesity. Objective. Assessment of adult people with obesity from a rural area in the Republic of Moldova to identify the most common comorbidities/ complications associated with obesity. Material and methods. This cross-sectional study included 120 adults with grade I-III of obesity (60 men and 60 women), with a mean age of 61.93 ± 11.43 years, under the care of a family physician during the year 2024 in a rural area of the Republic of Moldova. Data were extracted from outpatient medical records, with the informed consent of the patients. Results. All individuals included in the study had comorbidities: 4.16% (5) with one comorbidity, 10.83% (13) with two, 14.16% (17) with three, 20.83% (25) with four, 30.83% (37) with five, 18.33% (22) with six, and 0.83% (1) with seven and eight comorbidities. The most common diseases were MASLD 99.16% (119), HTA 80.83% (97), dyslipidemia 72.5% (87), gastrointestinal diseases 71.66% (86), cardiovascular diseases 65.83% (79), DZT2-28.33% (34), hyperuricemia 16.66% (20) and cancer 6.66% (8). The statistically significant difference between men and women was observed only for hyperuricemia (p<0.05), being more common in men. Conclusion. All participants in the study were identified of having at least one comorbidity, with the majority of them presenting 5 comorbidities The most common comorbidities (present in over 70% of patients) were: hypertension, gastrointestinal diseases, dyslipidemia, and MASLD.
